Kentucky's starting lineup of three freshmen and two sophomores did most everything together en route to the school's eighth national title. Now, they will each go their separate ways in the NBA.
Freshmen Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Marquis Teague, and sophomores Terrence Jones and Doron Lamb declared for the draft in a nationally televised news conference Tuesday night.
''Let me just say that Anthony and Doron and Terrence have decided to put their names in the NBA draft, so they will do that,'' coach John Calipari said, pausing for a dramatic effect. ''And Michael and Marquis Teague have also decided to put their names in the draft.
''I was trying to scare some coaches out there, that's all I was doing.''
The group, all clad in similar blue UK golf shirts, came into the season largely untested before ascending to No. 1, winning the Southeastern Conference in dominating fashion and capping an NCAA tournament run with a 67-59 victory over Kansas in the title game.
The five join seniors Darius Miller and Eloy Vargas leaving the program.
''This is a players' first program. I said it three years ago. During the season, it's about our team. You saw it in this year's team, they were about each other,'' Calipari said. ''When the season is over, it's about moments like this.''

The crystal football Alabama won for beating LSU in the BCS championship game in January was shattered on A-Day when it was accidentally knocked off a display by the father of a current player.
Athletic department spokesman Jeff Purinton said the Waterford Crystal trophy, valued at $30,000, was on display in the Mal Moore Athletic Facility as part of the festivities for the Crimson Tide's spring football game Saturday in Tuscaloosa, Ala. He says the man stumbled on a rug that was under the trophy display.
Purinton said the school is working with the American Football Coaches Association, which owns the trophy, on getting a replacement.
Florida's 2006 trophy was destroyed when it was accidentally knocked off a pedestal by a recruit in 2008. In 2004, Florida State had two trophies stolen.
''In 2009 and again this season, Alabama did a great job showing the trophy off to fans even after we turned it over to them,'' said Charley Green, manager of the coaches' trophy. ''Unfortunately it is fragile, and accidents can happen.

Utah Jazz swingman Gordon Hayward said he initially felt like ripping Delonte West's finger off and fighting him after he jabbed it into Hayward's right ear during the second quarter of Monday night's triple-overtime win against Dallas.
''I wanted to fight right there, but you can't do that,'' Hayward said before Tuesday's practice. ''It wouldn't have been the smart idea. I'd risk getting a technical foul, getting suspended for the season, whatever. There's more important things than fighting someone out on the court. The more important thing was getting the win and we were able to do that.''
Hayward acknowledged Tuesday that many of his teammates might have reacted differently.
But Hayward, who raised both arms and walked away, said he ''got the last laugh'' as the Jazz prevailed 123-121 to keep their slim playoff hopes alive with four games remaining.

The nation won't have to wait long to see Peyton Manning in a Broncos uniform.
Manning's first game as Broncos quarterback will come in prime time as Denver hosts Pittsburgh on the opening Sunday of the NFL season. The four-time MVP was released by Indianapolis after missing the 2011 season following neck surgery. ''It's a dream come true,'' Jones, a former player and former assistant coach at LSU, said when he was introduced as the Tigers 21st coach on Monday. ''I am home, and there is no place like home. I am going to try and bring back the passion and excitement LSU basketball had in its glory days.''
Jones agreed in principle to take the job last Friday night, replacing Trent Johnson, who accepted the vacant head basketball position at TCU.
Jones had been the head coach at North Texas for the past 11 seasons, going 190-146 with two Sun Belt tournament titles.
Before he got into coaching, Jones played under former LSU coach Dale Brown from 1981-84 and was a freshman on the Tigers' 1981 Final Four team. Jones then served on Brown's staff in a variety of capacities from 1985-1997. In 1986, LSU advanced to the Final Four again.
Brown was in the audience when Jones was introduced on Monday.
''We all got much more than a basketball coach,'' Brown said of Jones. ''We got a person with integrity, humor, superb work ethic, strong-willed, a unifier, a disciplinarian - a bright and pleasant gentleman. Hold on to your seats. This will be an exciting ride.''
Jones was interviewed by LSU Athletics Director Joe Alleva four years ago when Johnson was hired as a replacement for John Brady.
